about the site
pixels & sunshine is a display case, hexing archive, resource, and downloads site based on the 1999 pc game, babyz. if you somehow found this site without that knowledge, you can find our community over at milk!
this website is currently on its fourth iteration! it has taken a few different forms over the years, which you can see below.
pixels & sunshine v1
after going back to college for graphic and web design and learning how to properly code, i decided that my site needed a rebrand along with a full overhaul from the ground up. i started and abandoned this project a few times before i figured out exactly what i wanted. when i recoded the BCRS website in 2022, it gave me the confidence and experience i needed to bring my own website to fruition as well! in 2023, i completed the site and officially reopened as pixels & sunshine! this version holds a very special place in my heart since it was my first self-coded design for the site ;~;
hexcapades v2
this was the last version of the site under the name "hexcapades", which ran from 2015 until 2023! the layout is based on the hexing program we use for babyz, LNZpro, and the frame was supposed to look like a LNZpro window with the links on the sidebar mimicking the sidebar of LNZpro. i created the graphics for it and kazzie coded it for me. it was a really cute concept and it served me well for many years until i went back to college for web design and was able to fully redo and modernize it myself.
hexcapades v1
i first opened hexcapades around 2011-2012 purely as a hairstyle display case since i also had a separate, full website at the time. it was literally just one scrolling page of my hairstyles plus a couple of hexies i was extra proud of at the bottom. you'll notice here that i did originally spell the site name with an "s" in it, but later decided it looked much better without it.
i went on a bc hiatus for a few years and hexcapades 1.0 eventually got closed down when my host at the time chose not to renew their domain. finally, when i came back to the bc in 2015 i relaunched hexcapades 2.0! ♥
